Pardons are sometimes very controversial or even unjust. However, among the primary reasons for pardons is to rectify injustices, miscarriage of ‘justice’. Omar's case should be used to defeat devils beyond the u.s, and that is why my title says ‘every country’. Stop blaming only Trump, or at least learn more than you blame Trump. President Barrow may not be terrible in regards to going after political opponents like Trump, but we do not know if he may worsen or we may get someone terrible. Similarly, do not say your country's President or people are above what Trump is doing. Let the opposition leaders of every country sponsor a private bill that will give at least parliament/Congress Pardon powers. A special committee of judiciary can also be given Pardon powers, all to potentially reduce the dangers of violent protests or worse, not just give pardons.
Almost every sane person understands Trump is hunting political opponents, especially of minority communities. Biden did not see this one coming or Congress will only complain? Congress forced some members to resign and will not over protect the over guilty members. Yes, we can wait for what evidence they may claim, but I truly do not want the examples of this article to be mainly the u.s. I am fairly certain some members of the Republican Congress may offer her Pardon, especially if there was a secret ballot option. The idea is every country, so we must switch from the u.s.
Hello President Barrow, Tinubu, Mahama, Faye, etc, someone else can take over the presidency and try to charge you or those close to you in questionable ways. Our parliament or xyz may be much better. If the General public suspects injustice(s), they may rebel in ways that may affect us all. However, if Pardon powers are expanded, we can tame the angry public that if a rubber stamp judge sides with injustices, our country is blessed with multiple rewriting of injustices, that our parliament will pardon the innocent or mildly guilty through 51 percent explicit voting or 75% secret balloting to avoid party reprisals. Help the people vote their conscience.
Sometimes even the law can be wrong, outdated. There are many scenarios where pardons should actually come with a check. The chances of a president abusing pardons are much higher than parliament or a group of special judges, not just the busy supreme court. So whatever fears you have about potential abuse of pardons, please gauge based on probabilities, not just possibilities. Having such new laws or pardon powers will prevent such power abuse. Trump or xyz understanding Parliament or a team of judges will look at his case and pardon the innocent can reduce the number of people they may torture through the process.
There is another American army, Major Jason Watson, who is reportedly in ‘solitary confinement’ for essentially calling for the removal of Trump. Although most countries have a different justice tier for the service personnel, I think even soldiers deserve freedom of speech, or at least not to undergo extreme punishment over non-threatening words. In my opinion, his case is even worse than Omar's case so far. Such can happen in many countries and eventually affect countries in a completely different continent. We must study evil folks and evil ways, and try to stop them in preventive and curative ways.
We can appeal to the sitting leaders, but many countries do allow privately sponsored bills. So I have repeatedly said most Gambian opposition leaders are weak and not proposing/presenting private bills are part of the evidence to my charge against them. How strong or weak are the opposition in your country and how can you improve them? They are not passing laws to protect themselves, the children, or even the public. I do not want to vote for an opposition party that refuses to upgrade or introduce better laws. You can crowdfund and show us where you want to see improvements beyond judicial matters. The journalists in every country should learn and teach, not just report. You must help the people imagine. Risking the forgiving of a guilty or innocent person is just one part, but how such pardon powers can prevent riots, wars, etc is for visionaries. I am confident that some Americans will vote against Republicans who enabled these terrible weaponisation of the so-called justice system. I know some Americans will even protest. However, I understand some countries can try worse than Trump may and the public may react in ways they never imagined. Although not in every country, some parliaments can pardon a targeted journalist+, but the association of journalists cannot see the importance of expanding pardon powers? State injustices are terrible and may God help us prevent them, protect us from every evil. May God bless Showlove Trinity: let's learn, let's work, let's have fun.
