Senior Lecturer at the Ho Technical University (HTU), Dr Stanley Nelvis Glate, has filed his nomination to contest the vacant Volta Regional Secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The position became vacant following the appointment of the former Regional Secretary, James Gunu, as Volta Regional Minister.
Dr Glate’s nomination marks a step in his bid to take charge of the party’s regional administrative operations ahead of the upcoming regional elections.
In a statement to NDC members in the Volta Region after completing the nomination process, he expressed satisfaction and called for a collective effort to build a stronger and more responsive party.
He said his campaign was driven by a vision of effective administration, accountability, meaningful engagement and leadership that prioritises the grassroots.
Under the campaign theme, “A Fresh Drive for Volta NDC,” Dr Glate is proposing a Regional Secretariat that goes beyond routine administrative duties to become an accessible, active and dependable institution for party members.
He said strengthening the party would require purposeful leadership and renewed attention to the structures connecting regional executives with members at the constituency level.
According to him, the Secretariat must provide a platform for constituency concerns to be heard, members to be engaged, disagreements to be resolved constructively and collective decisions to be translated into action.
Dr Glate has previously contested a regional executive position. In 2022, he was among four candidates cleared to contest the Deputy Regional Secretary position alongside the current Acting Regional Secretary and Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Stephen Adom.
He has pledged that, if elected Regional Secretary, he will ensure that every constituency receives the necessary attention and has a meaningful voice in the party’s regional affairs.
