Bank of Ghana (BoG) Governor Dr Johnson Pandit Asiamah has told investors in Thailand that Ghana is making significant economic progress, citing a decline in inflation to 5.2% in September 2026 and a cumulative 14-percentage-point reduction in the policy rate.

He said the gains, alongside improved fiscal discipline and a recent upgrade of Ghana’s sovereign credit rating, provide a stronger foundation for investment and economic growth.

Dr Asiamah made the remarks in a social media post on Thursday, October 15, following meetings with institutional investors, brokers and fund managers on the sidelines of the 2026 IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings.

“Our message to investors in Thailand was clear: Ghana is making substantial progress, and we are committed to sustaining the policy discipline that underpins confidence in the economy,” he wrote.

According to the Governor, inflation has declined from 23.8% at the end of 2024 to 5.2% in September 2026, while the Monetary Policy Rate has been reduced by a cumulative 1,400 basis points to 14%.

He said the developments were expected to support investment decisions, business planning and economic growth.

Dr Asiamah also pointed to Moody’s decision on October 9 to upgrade Ghana’s sovereign credit rating from Caa1 to B3, with a stable outlook, as further recognition of the country’s economic progress.

He said the rating agency cited improved financing conditions, lower borrowing costs and sustained fiscal discipline supported by institutional improvements.

The Governor, however, acknowledged the need to sustain investor confidence through consistent policies and a resilient economy.

He said the Bank of Ghana remains focused on rebuilding international reserves, strengthening institutions and preserving macroeconomic stability.

Dr Asiamah added that the Bank is monitoring global developments, including movements in the US dollar and gold prices, financing conditions and tensions in the Middle East, ahead of the Monetary Policy Committee’s November meeting.

“Our responsibility is to reinforce Ghana’s progress through credible policy and sustained action, creating the conditions for long-term investment and lasting economic opportunity,” he added.
