Omanbapa Deftech Limited has donated GH¢100,000 to support the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong’s initiative to redevelop Burma Camp and El-Wak into a modern residential community for personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The contribution is expected to support the CDS’s broader infrastructure development agenda to address accommodation challenges and improve the welfare and living conditions of military personnel.

Receiving the donation on Tuesday in Accra, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Joshua Mensah Larkai expressed appreciation to the company for its generosity and commitment to improving the welfare of GAF personnel.

He said support from corporate organisations and other stakeholders was crucial to successfully implementing the redevelopment project, which aims to provide improved, sustainable residential facilities for military personnel.

He explained that the redevelopment of Burma Camp and El-Wak formed part of the CDS’s broader infrastructure development drive to address accommodation deficits within the Armed Forces.

According to him, the initiative is expected to improve living conditions, enhance personnel welfare and contribute to the operational effectiveness of the military.

AVM Mensah Larkai added that the project would also promote a more organised and sustainable residential environment within the military community.

The Chief Executive Officer of Omanbapa Deftech Limited, Mr Bernard Oduro Takyi, stressed the importance of collective support from individuals and corporate institutions in achieving the objectives of the redevelopment initiative.

He described the CDS’s decision to transform Burma Camp and El-Wak through a self-help redevelopment programme as a commendable undertaking deserving of support.

He said collective contributions from stakeholders could help advance the project and contribute to efforts to improve accommodation and living conditions for personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.
