The 2001 year group of Abira R/C Junior High School in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region has cut sod for the construction of an ultra-modern teachers' bungalow for the school.
The bungalow, estimated to cost hundreds of thousands of Ghana cedis, is aimed at providing decent accommodation for teachers of the school.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the President of the group, Mr. Kwabena Fosu, popularly known as MK, said the project is intended to help improve educational outcomes.

He noted that the lack of proper accommodation forces teachers to travel long distances to the school.
Mr. Fosu added that the accommodation facility, when completed, will address the challenge of teachers losing contact hours as a result of commuting from far.

The Deputy Municipal Director of Education for Kwabre East, Emmanuel Kofi Bandele, commended the year group for the gesture and called on other year groups and community stakeholders to undertake similar initiatives to support education.
For his part, the Headteacher of Abira R/C JHS, Isaac Kwadwo Mensah, praised the group for the initiative, expressing confidence that the teachers' quarters will help address teacher shortages in the school by improving accommodation for staff.
