Prophet Kumchacha has accused some government appointees under the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of neglecting the grassroots supporters who helped bring the party back to power.
The preacher claimed he had received several complaints from party supporters who alleged that some ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs) and heads of state institutions have been ignoring their calls and distancing themselves from people who supported the party before it won power.
Expressing concern over the situation, Kumchacha stressed that not everyone who contacts government officials is seeking financial assistance, adding that some people simply want to be heard or seek support on issues affecting them.
“Not everyone who calls you is asking for money, but the complaints I am receiving about the NDC are very troubling,” he said.
He further alleged that some appointees had blocked the phone numbers of individuals attempting to reach them, describing the situation as disappointing given the expectations that accompanied the party’s return to government.
According to him, such conduct could create frustration among grassroots supporters who expected government officials to remain accessible and responsive after assuming office.
Kumchacha, however, acknowledged that some appointees had demonstrated a willingness to listen to people who approached them for assistance, commending them for maintaining contact with the public.
He urged NDC leaders to reconsider their approach to party supporters, warning that failing to engage the grassroots could deepen dissatisfaction within the party.
