The President of the National Defence University (NDU), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Felix Adom Asante, has commissioned a fleet of 10 newly acquired vehicles to strengthen its logistical capacity and enhance mobility in support of its academic and operational activities.

The vehicles were commissioned at a ceremony held at the Defence Mechanical Transport Battalion (DMT Bn) in Accra on Wednesday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Asante said the acquisition formed part of efforts to provide the University with the logistical resources required to effectively deliver on its mandate as a specialised defence-awarding institution.

He said reliable transportation was critical to the operations of the University, given its regular engagements with the Ghana Armed Forces, defence colleges, regulatory bodies, universities and other partner institutions across the country.

AVM Asante said the new fleet would support official visits, coordination activities, group movements, field operations and other logistical requirements, thereby enabling officers and staff to perform their duties more effectively.

He urged drivers and users of the vehicles to ensure their proper use by observing road safety regulations, maintaining accurate journey records and promptly reporting maintenance needs to sustain the fleet.

The Chief Coordinator of the University, Brigadier General Emmanuel Nyante, said the availability of reliable transportation would further enable staff to effectively carry out their responsibilities across the Ghana Armed Forces and in collaboration with universities and other institutions in Ghana.

The fleet comprises two Toyota Land Cruiser VXRs, three Toyota Prados, one Toyota Hiace bus and four Great Wall pickups. Stoubos Ltd supplied the two Land Cruisers, three Prados and the Hiace bus, while Zonda Tec Ghana Ltd supplied the four Great Wall pickups.
