President John Dramani Mahama is in the city of Alamein, Egypt, to participate in the Eighth African Union (AU) Mid‑Year Coordination Summit, which opens on Saturday.
The President will also join the maiden Alamein Africa Forum, held in parallel with the AU Heads of State Summit.
A statement issued by the Presidency said the Alamein Africa Forum will open with an address by the President of Egypt, followed by a keynote speech from Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote.
President Mahama is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at a plenary session on “Investing in Health: Manufacturing and Regional Value Chains.”
According to the statement, he will examine health as a strategic economic sector and investable market, rather than merely a social expenditure.
The Heads of State gathering for the Eighth AU Mid‑Year Coordination Summit will take place on Sunday, with President Mahama expected to hold key bilateral meetings on the sidelines, including one with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi.
The two high‑level events aim to advance African economic integration and sustainable development, while providing a platform for governments, businesses and financial institutions to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships, the statement added.
