President John Dramani Mahama is in the Alamein city of Egypt, to participate in the Eighth African Union (AU) Mid-Year Coordination Summit, which opens today.
The President will also join the maiden Alamein Africa Forum, which is running parallel to the AU Heads of State Summit.
A statement issued by Ghana’s Presidency Friday said the Alamein Africa Forum opens with an address by the President of Egypt and a keynote by Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote.
It said President Mahama would later deliver the keynote at a plenary session on “Investing in Health: Manufacturing and Regional Value Chains”.
The statement said President Mahama would examine health as a strategic economic sector and investable market, and not just a social expenditure.
The Heads of State gathering for the Eighth AU Mid-Year Coordination Summit would be on Sunday, with President Mahama expected to hold key bilateral meetings on the sidelines.
This includes a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
The gatherings aim to advance African economic integration and sustainable development, while creating a platform for governments, businesses, and financial institutions to explore investment opportunities and strengthen partnerships, the statement said.
