Bongo Constituency National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman hopeful, Hon. Philemon Ataba Atiah, has officially launched his campaign with a visit and donation to children at Hope Children’s Place under the Village of Hope in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region.
The gesture, which formed part of his campaign launch activities, saw Hon. Ataba Atiah donate food items, mineral water, biscuits and other essential supplies, as well as an undisclosed amount of money, to support the children.
Addressing the children and staff of the facility, Hon. Ataba Atiah said he deliberately chose Hope Children’s Place as the starting point for his campaign because of his personal background as an orphan.
He explained that having experienced the challenges associated with growing up without parental care, he felt a strong connection with the children and could not have chosen a more meaningful place to begin his campaign.
"I am an orphan, and I could not have started my campaign anywhere else than with my colleagues,” he said.
Hon. Ataba Atiah said the visit was not only about politics but also about showing care and solidarity with children who, like him, have had to navigate life without the support of their biological parents.
He expressed his commitment to supporting initiatives that improve the welfare of vulnerable people in society and called for greater attention to the needs of children in care facilities.
The Bongo NDC Chairman hopeful said the donation was his modest contribution towards the wellbeing of the children and encouraged them to remain hopeful and focused on their future.
The campaign launch brings Hon. Philemon Ataba Atiah’s bid for the Bongo Constituency NDC Chairmanship into public view, with the aspirant expected to engage party members and delegates as he seeks their support in the upcoming constituency elections.
