Dancehall icon and leader of the SM movement, Shatta Wale, has assured the people of Volta of his plans to bring serious development to the region, stressing that his focus goes beyond music.
According to him, he has done a lot in Accra and now wants to extend similar opportunities to the Volta Region to create employment for the youth, particularly Keke riders and drivers who can join the Shaxi platform to make ends meet.
The dancehall star made this revelation when he briefed the media ahead of the highly anticipated MoMoFest - ShataFest slated for Saturday, October 3, at the Youth Resource Centre in Ho.
The musician expressed gratitude to his sponsors, including Ayo, Guinness Ghana Limited, Ecobank, MoMo from MTN, Waya and Shaxi.
On the change of venue a few days to the concert, Shatta Wale disclosed that the initial venue, the Ho Sports Stadium, became too small following the fast pace of ticket sales, necessitating a move to the Youth Resource Centre, which he described as the perfect venue.
He added that all security measures have been put in place to ensure a successful and incident-free show for all patrons.
Officials of MoMo from Ghana said they have held extensive discussions with the Ghana Police Service and the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), who will be deployed from the main junction to beyond the venue.
They noted that indiscriminate parking along the road has been a major challenge that renders roads unmotorable, and as a result, the Fire Service, Military, Police and Health Services, including ambulance services and nearby hospitals, have all been informed and put on standby.
The team appealed to patrons to park properly and adhere to directives from the MTTD to ensure smooth transportation to and from the venue, stressing that bikes, pragyas and cars should not be left on the road to inconvenience other attendees.
On shooting his new album "Gborgborvi" in the Volta Region, Shatta Wale revealed that his video directors are already scouting locations in Volta to shoot music videos that will promote the region's beauty to the international community, with a shoot scheduled for Sunday.
He also revealed his admiration for Volta-based artistes who caught his attention for performing his songs, adding that listening to them evokes deep emotions.
The award-winning musician announced that preparations are ongoing for local artistes who wish to perform alongside him on Saturday, noting that his performance is scheduled for around 11:30 pm and encouraging talents to report to the venue from morning to evening to register and showcase their skills.
Shatta Wale explained that he is working to properly establish his record label system in Ghana to scout and support good talents, and that the Ho concert will provide a platform for many Volta artistes and other emerging talents, adding that his visit to the region is dear to his heart and calling on all Voltarians to come out in their numbers to support the event and show the world what the region can do.
