Eoco Arrests Baffour Awuah After Voluntary Surrender

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has finally placed Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah under arrest after months of efforts to secure his attendance over a string of allegations under investigation.

Mr Baffour Awuah, Senior Partner of Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, voluntarily surrendered himself at the EOCO headquarters yesterday, October 1, 2026, at about 10 a.m., according to the anti-graft agency.

According to the Office, his appearance followed several months of efforts to secure his attendance before investigators over allegations involving criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters under investigation.

EOCO said it subsequently commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures, following which Mr Baffour Awuah was placed under arrest.

The agency said he is currently cooperating with investigators as the investigation proceeds.

“EOCO further wishes to assure the public that its investigations will progress professionally, independently and in accordance with due process,” the statement said.

The Office said investigators would continue to pursue all relevant lines of inquiry and examine the available evidence while ensuring that all persons involved are afforded their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.

EOCO also cautioned the public against speculation or premature conclusions regarding the culpability of any individual.

The latest development follows an earlier effort by the Office to secure Mr Baffour Awuah’s attendance in connection with the investigation.

EOCO has not announced any finding of guilt against Mr Baffour Awuah. The allegations remain subject to investigation and any subsequent judicial process.

The Office said it would provide further information when it is appropriate and legally permissible to do so.

The statement was signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Education for the Executive Director of EOCO and dated October 1, 2026.
