ECKANKAR @50: 2026 African ECK Soul Adventure Seminar concludes in Accra

The 2026 African ECK Soul Adventure Seminar has ended at the ECK Temple at East Legon Okponglo in Accra, bringing together participants from across Africa and beyond for discussions centred on spiritual growth, love and personal development.

Held under the theme, “Living your Spiritual Purpose,” the seminar also formed part of activities marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ECKANKAR in Ghana.

The anniversary was commemorated under the theme, “Celebrating 50 Years of Eckankar in Ghana - Learning to Love As God Loves”, giving the gathering added significance for members and followers of the spiritual organisation.

Speaking during a media interaction at the seminar, Co-Regional ECK Spiritual Aide, Mrs Enyonam Ofei, said the anniversary theme carried a message that could resonate with people regardless of their religious or spiritual background.

“The theme for the Anniversary is ‘Learning to Love, As God Loves,’ and that is something we could call a universal theme because that’s why we are here on earth,” she said.

Mrs Ofei explained that the organisation's understanding of human existence includes learning to love in a manner that reflects divine love and using that knowledge to positively influence others.

“We are here to learn how God loves, so if anybody is able to do that and when you go back to God, God is able to give you an assignment to come back and help others do the same, to learn as God loves,” Mrs Ofei explained.

She illustrated the concept by referring to the natural world, arguing that divine love and blessings are extended to all people without discrimination based on their location or circumstances.

“How does God love? You may have a few examples. Today it didn’t rain but we are having sunshine. God is not saying I am going to give sunshine to those in Accra and somewhere else they won’t get sunshine because I am punishing them for some sin. No!” she stated.

According to her, the example demonstrates the need for people to extend the same unconditional love to others.

“God gives love to all creation and that is what we are also to learn to do and give love to all the people around us”, she said.

Mrs Ofei maintained that love should not be limited to particular individuals or groups, arguing that people share a divine origin.

“Everybody around us should be given love because it is our nature. We are made in the image of God, so if God is love then we are love and to give love,” Mrs Ofei added.

She stressed that the seminar's message was not restricted to ECKANKAR members and could be appreciated by people from different faiths and spiritual traditions.

“If you are not an ECKist, it doesn’t matter. We all talk about God in various languages. Each one of us has a name for God,” she said.

Mrs Ofei encouraged participants to recognise the higher spiritual power they believe created humanity and to develop a commitment to love, regardless of the terminology or religious tradition they use.

“That higher entity that you think is the creator of all beings, that you recognise as all-powerful, all-knowing and everything is divine love, so we must learn to love”, she said.

She added that participation in the spiritual message did not require anyone to identify as an ECKist because, according to her, all people are ultimately on a spiritual journey towards God.

“You don’t even have to be an ECKist, because we are all going back to God, but we need to learn the lessons,” Mrs Ofei stated.

Mrs Ofei also connected the organisation's teachings on spiritual development to reincarnation, saying she believed people were given multiple opportunities to learn and grow spiritually.

“If you don’t learn how to love as God loves you, it doesn’t really matter, you will come back. That’s why we have reincarnation because God knows we cannot take one lifetime to learn how to love,” she said.

She likened the concept to returning to school, where each lifetime provides another opportunity to learn and develop.

“So, we are always given the opportunity to come back and learn. It’s like just going back to school, ” Mrs Ofei explained.

According to her, the belief reflects the idea that humanity is given sufficient time and opportunities to learn important spiritual lessons and make better choices.

“Because God has a lot of time for us to just do the right thing,” she said.

Mrs Ofei said the seminar was ultimately intended to communicate a message of love and spiritual development to people in Ghana and beyond.

“This message is for all of us. We should just learn how God loves. That’s our message and we are trying to give everybody and every Ghanaian who is ready to listen to this message,” she stated.

She further explained that ECKANKAR's approach places significant emphasis on individual spiritual responsibility rather than simply belonging to a religious community.

“Eckankar, as a religion, is really not a group thing; it’s for the individual because you see, for each one, you have to take good care of yourself. And that’s the message,” Mrs Ofei concluded.

The 2026 African ECK Soul Adventure Seminar formed part of activities aimed at deepening participants' understanding of spiritual principles, personal responsibility and love, while commemorating 50 years of ECKANKAR's presence in Ghana.
