Regentropfen University College has celebrated its founder, Rev. Fr. Moses Asaah Awinongya, for his vision and determination in establishing a tertiary institution in the Upper East Region, particularly in the Namoo community, at a time when many doubted the feasibility of his dream.
Delivering the keynote address at the celebration of the founding generation on Saturday, September 26, 2026, Prof. Charles Baba Campion described Rev. Fr. Asaah Awinongya as “the Joseph of our time,” in recognition of his foresight, resilience and commitment to transforming his vision for tertiary education into reality.
The event, held on the campus of Regentropfen University College, forms part of activities marking the institution’s 10th anniversary under the theme “From Vision to Reality: A Decade of Promoting Talents and Shaping Future Minds.”
Prof. Campion noted that Rev. Fr. Asaah Awinongya believed strongly in the potential of tertiary education in the Upper East Region and particularly in Namoo, despite doubts and scepticism from many people at the time.
He said the founder’s decision to pursue the establishment of the university demonstrated courage and a willingness to invest in the future of young people and the development of the region.
According to him, the story of Regentropfen University College is therefore one of vision, perseverance and the determination to pursue an idea even when others may not immediately see its potential.
The celebration of the founding generation brought together members of the university community, including management, staff, students and individuals who contributed to the establishment and growth of the institution.
The celebration featured choreography, a poetry performance, dinner, and the presentation of citations and incentives to members of the founding generation in recognition of their contributions to the establishment and development of the institution.
The Chief of Kansoe was among the distinguished members of the founding generation honoured during the ceremony.
The anniversary provides an opportunity for the university to honour those who played key roles in its formative years while reflecting on its achievements and aspirations for the future.
