President Mahama to Walk the Runway on November 7

President John Dramani Mahama is set to make an unusual appearance outside the political arena when he takes to the runway at the upcoming Black Star Fashion Week on November 7.

The President is expected to join a lineup of Ghanaian designers, models and creative industry players for what organisers describe as a significant moment for the country’s fashion and creative sector.

The development was announced by Black Star Experience Secretariat Coordinator Rex Omar during the official launch of the Black Star Comedy Experience at Jubilee House.

According to Rex Omar, this year’s fashion programme is designed to create a platform where young and emerging creatives can connect with established figures in the industry.

The activities will begin on November 4 with a fashion summit and other related programmes before culminating in the main runway showcase on November 7.

Mahama’s participation is expected to draw considerable attention to the event, as his appearance on the catwalk will bring a presidential presence to a sector increasingly recognised as an important part of Ghana’s creative economy.

Organisers say the broader objective is to provide opportunities for young fashion entrepreneurs and designers to gain exposure, share ideas and learn from experienced professionals.

The Black Star Fashion Week forms part of the wider Black Star Experience initiative, which seeks to showcase Ghana’s culture, creativity and tourism potential to both local and international audiences.

With the President scheduled to walk the runway, the November 7 showcase is set to combine fashion, culture and public leadership in an event expected to generate significant interest across Ghana’s creative community.
