GCTU sets October 19 for commencement of lectures for 2026/27 freshers

The Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has announced key dates and activities for newly admitted students for the 2026/2027 academic year.

According to the university, online course registration is already open and will close on Friday, October 30, while freshers are expected to report to campus between Friday, October 9 and Sunday, October 11.

Orientation for newly admitted students will take place from Monday, October 12 to Friday, October 16, with lectures scheduled to begin on Monday, October 19.

“Online course registration is already open and can be completed from home through the Student Information Portal (SIP) upon payment of the required initial fees,” the university said in a statement issued on Thursday, September 24.

GCTU clarified that Wednesday, September 30, is the official commencement date for registration and not the date for freshers to report physically to campus.

The university said newly admitted students are required to accept their admission offers, pay the required fees and complete their course registration by Friday, October 30.

In the notice issued by Mrs Araba Hackman Akanji, Director of Academic Affairs at GCTU, the school further urged students to register early to avoid last-minute challenges.

Medical examinations for fresh students are scheduled for Monday, October 26 to Friday, October 30, while the matriculation rehearsal will be held on Wednesday, November 11.

The matriculation ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, November 12.
