The German Political Party AfD, is planning the remigration of millions of migrants in Germany

As the aim is to make it possible to deport people on the basis of any criteria whatsoever, (1). civil and human rights would have to be abolished, (2). We would find ourselves in ‘‘a Germany“, where individual rights can be suspended and modified at any time and apply only insofar as they do not stand in the way of the executive.

It would be a state in which the courts ultimately take their instructions from the government, as is typical of dictatorships and other autocratic systems. China and Russia are currently prominent examples, but the Third Reich also functioned in this way.

The task of defining the criteria for deportation would presumably fall to the government, which would have a free hand to threaten all unwelcome elements of society with deportation. It would, of course, be conceivable that there might be, at least officially, a supervisory body to check the criteria for legality, but a government with the power to override the Basic Law would certainly be shrewd and powerful enough to ensure that this would be nothing more than a fig leaf.

Which, incidentally, would also have various international consequences, for example, Germany would have to leave the EU or would be suspended, and NATO too actually requires its members to be democratic states governed by the rule of law.
