Man beaten to death after alleged machete attack on elderly woman at Tamso

An unidentified man has been beaten to death by some community members at Tamso in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality after he allegedly attacked an elderly female trader with a machete.

The incident reportedly occurred around 8pm between the Tamso New Road and Ideal College, where the man is said to have confronted the woman as she passed by carrying a bag.

According to preliminary information, the man allegedly chased the woman and attacked her with a machete, prompting some community members to intervene.

The woman was subsequently rushed to a hospital for medical attention. Unconfirmed reports indicate that she is in critical condition.

The alleged attack triggered a violent response from some residents, who reportedly assaulted the unidentified man, resulting in his death.

Police officers have since arrived at the scene and are working to have the deceased’s body conveyed to the morgue.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the deceased man had not been established, while police were expected to commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding both the alleged attack on the woman and the man’s subsequent death.
