Pusiga NPP demands roads, hospital completion to make meaning for 24‑Hour economy market

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Pusiga Constituency is urging the government to prioritise critical development needs in the area, particularly the rehabilitation of roads and the completion of the district hospital.

The party says the government’s focus on the proposed 24‑hour economy market risks yielding limited benefits if access roads to the facility remain in poor condition.

Pusiga NPP Constituency Communication Officer, Sumaila Jafaru, said government must address the pressing infrastructure challenges confronting residents while pursuing its broader development agenda.

According to the NPP, Pusiga’s strategic location along Ghana’s borders with Burkina Faso and Togo gives it significant economic potential. Yet residents continue to struggle with deplorable roads, limited access to healthcare and inadequate basic amenities.

The party insists that roads leading to the 24‑hour economy market must be improved to ensure traders and residents can fully utilise the facility. It is also calling for renewed attention to the completion of the Pusiga District Hospital, which it says would greatly enhance healthcare delivery in the constituency.

Other NPP members who spoke to this reporter echoed these concerns, describing some government priorities as misplaced and urging greater focus on roads, healthcare and other essential infrastructure.

Pusiga was carved out of the former Bawku Constituency in 2004. Since its creation, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has won every parliamentary election in the area.

The NPP maintains that the constituency’s political history should not influence the pace of development and is appealing to the government to urgently address the infrastructure gaps affecting residents.
