Mahama invites global partners for a summit to help implement Accra Reset recommendations

President John Dramani Mahama has invited governments and key actors in the global health and development sectors to partner with Ghana in turning the recommendations of the Accra Reset into practical programmes at the country level.

He said achieving the objectives of the initiative would require sustained cooperation among governments, global health organisations, development finance institutions, philanthropic organisations and private-sector players.

President Mahama made the call at a high-level side event on the Accra Reset held on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The event brought together stakeholders to discuss global development and health cooperation, with particular attention to how policy proposals could be translated into practical interventions capable of delivering lasting benefits.

The President said Ghana and the Accra Reset Presidential Council would begin engaging relevant stakeholders in the coming months to develop country-level compacts based on the recommendations of the initiative.

He said the process would focus on identifying practical areas where governments and other partners could work together to strengthen local capacity and build sustainable systems to respond to health challenges.

“Over the coming months, Ghana and the Presidential Council will convene governments, global health bodies, development finance institutions, philanthropies, and the private sector to translate these recommendations into country-level compacts.

“We invite strategic partners, from Brazil's Fiocruz to leading institutions in India, Indonesia, the Gulf, and across Africa, to partner with us. We want to build self-sustaining networks that connect research, regulatory oversight, local manufacturing, and reliable distribution,” he emphasised.
