Kacstone Records, Sister Kingdom Network join African tourism stakeholders at Lesotho summit

Ghanaian music and cultural promotion organisation, Kacstone Records, in partnership with the Sister Kingdom Network, has participated in a high-level tourism summit in Lesotho aimed at deepening tourism, cultural and economic cooperation across Africa.

The two-day event, known as the Lesotho Tourism Pitso, was held in Maseru from September 16 to 17, 2026, under the auspices of the Lesotho Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Culture through the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation.

The summit brought together stakeholders from the tourism, culture and creative industries in Lesotho and other African countries to discuss strategies for positioning Lesotho as a competitive tourism destination while promoting intra-African tourism and cultural exchange.

The Ghanaian delegation comprised the Supreme Leader of the Sister Kingdom Network and Ambassador for Africa with the Countrystyle Community Tourism Network, Ambassador Dr. Tengol K. Kplemani; Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Aborah Duriyem; and Public Relations Officer of Kacstone Records, Alexander Naaga Bombande.

Speaking at the summit, Ambassador Kplemani stressed the importance of placing cultural tourism at the centre of Africa's tourism development agenda.

“Our agenda as Africa has to do with its drivers; without the drivers of the industry, we can’t make an impact,” he said.

He said sustainable growth in Africa's tourism sector would require greater commitment and collaboration among key industry players.

Ambassador Kplemani, who also serves as an Ambassador for Africa with the Countrystyle Community Tourism Network, further called for stronger connections between African communities, traditional authorities and organisations to promote cultural preservation, investment and economic cooperation.

He advocated initiatives such as the twinning of communities, kingdoms and institutions as a means of creating stronger relationships and opening up new opportunities for collaboration across the continent and the diaspora.

On his part, Mr. Duriyem, who participated in a panel discussion at the summit, called for increased youth involvement in shaping the future of African tourism.

He urged stakeholders to harness new media platforms to promote Africa's diverse cultural heritage and strengthen connections among countries.

“We need to leverage the media to connect our countries and cultures, and build regional collaborations and cooperation that open our countries to bigger collaborations,” he said.

Mr. Duriyem also advocated cultural exchange programmes between Ghana and Lesotho, saying such initiatives could strengthen cultural tourism and promote greater understanding among African peoples.

“This gathering is important for the growth of African tourism; we need to have regional collaboration in terms of diversity in culture and learn from each other’s perspective of life,” he said.

He further called on tourism industry players to collaborate on cross-border events in Ghana, Lesotho and other African countries as a way of creating platforms for cultural exchange and regional cooperation.

The Principal Secretary for the Lesotho Ministry of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Mantiti Khabo, expressed optimism about the country's tourism potential, describing the sector as unique and fast-rising.

“We have a beautiful country, with attractive mountains good for adventure tourism, a rich culture and hospitable people,” she said.

Mrs. Khabo also welcomed the participation of delegations from Ghana and other African countries, including Mozambique, saying their presence demonstrated the willingness of Africans to work together to advance tourism, arts and culture.

As part of the cultural diplomacy activities, the Ghanaian delegation presented a traditional smock to the Minister for Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Mputi Steven Mputi.

The presentation highlighted the traditional northern Ghanaian garment as an important symbol of Ghanaian cultural identity and served as an avenue for cultural exchange between Ghana and Lesotho.

The participation of Kacstone Records and the Sister Kingdom Network in the Lesotho Tourism Pitso forms part of broader efforts to promote African cultural heritage, tourism development and cross-border partnerships among communities, institutions and creative industry players across the continent.
