Stop campaign-related donations and tours — NDC warns parliamentary hopefuls

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has instructed members seeking to contest parliamentary seats to suspend all activities that could be interpreted as campaigning until the party officially opens nominations.

The directive was issued by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC) on Tuesday, September 14, 2026, following concerns about activities allegedly being organised by some prospective aspirants across various constituencies.

In a statement, the FEC warned members against arranging or attending meetings, tours, donation exercises, public engagements and other events designed, or likely to be perceived, as efforts to promote their parliamentary ambitions before the nomination period begins.

The party said such activities could disrupt its internal processes and weaken unity and cohesion. It therefore ordered all members involved to bring them to an immediate end.

The NDC further cautioned that anyone who failed to comply would be subjected to disciplinary proceedings and severe sanctions under the party’s Constitution, rules and regulations.

Regional, Constituency, Branch and other party officials have also been directed to monitor compliance and report violations to the appropriate authorities within the party.

“The NDC remains committed to a transparent, orderly and credible process for selecting its Parliamentary Candidates. The Party will, at the appropriate time, officially communicate the opening of nominations and the applicable guidelines,” the statement added.

The party subsequently appealed to all members to observe its established procedures and uphold discipline to protect the unity of the NDC.
