Social News Mpohor-Fiase Assembly trains PWDA’s in skills development

The Mpohor-Fiase District Assembly, through the Disability Common Fund, has organized a skills training workshop for Persons with Disabilities (PWDA’s) in the district to equip them with practical skills for sustainable livelihoods.

The training focuses on the production of liquid and solid soap, after-wash and Parazone, with the aim of enabling participants to establish small businesses, generate income and become economically self-reliant.

Speaking to the participants, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon. John Donkoh, encouraged them to believe in their abilities, stressing that “disability is not inability” and that they too can do something meaningful to improve their lives.

Officers from the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development also took turns to educate participants on business sustainability, branding and marketing to help them effectively manage and grow their businesses.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Sophia Aubyn, assured the participants of government's commitment to improving their livelihoods and reiterated government's readiness to support them with start-up kits after the training to enable them put their newly acquired skills into practice.
