Kidnapped man beg family to pay GH¢50,000 ransom as captors threaten death within 24-hours at Assin Fosu

The family of 30-year-old Bismark Amoh is appealing for urgent help after suspected kidnappers allegedly abducted him at Assin Fosu in the Fosu Municipality of the Central Region and subjected him to severe physical abuse.

Amoh was reportedly seized on Sunday, September 6, 2026, and had remained in captivity for more than 48 hours as his abductors repeatedly threatened to kill him unless a ransom was paid.

The kidnappers initially demanded GH¢45,000 and reportedly gave the family a 24-hour deadline to produce the money, according to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The situation took a more alarming turn when the abductors sent audio and video recordings of Amoh to his relatives via WhatsApp.

In the footage, the 30-year-old was seen naked and restrained with ropes around his hands, legs and neck. He was also shown lying in water that had been poured onto the floor while his captors allegedly beat him with ropes.

The recordings captured Amoh crying and pleading for his life as the perpetrators slapped and struck him from different directions.

The disturbing images have intensified concerns about his safety as the family struggles to secure his release.

The GNA reported that the kidnappers appeared to be communicating with the family through WhatsApp using Amoh’s own mobile phone, apparently in an effort to conceal their identities and limit digital traces that could assist investigators in locating them.

Desperate to meet the ransom demand, the family sought financial support from relatives, friends and other well-wishers and managed to raise GH¢19,500, which was sent to the kidnappers.

Rather than releasing Amoh after receiving the money, the abductors reportedly raised their demand, with one of them heard insisting on an additional GH¢30,500, bringing the total ransom sought to GH¢50,000.

A woman heard in the background of the recording accused Amoh of allegedly defrauding people connected to his detention, claiming this was the reason for his arrest, subsequent mistreatment and the demand for money.

With the victim still reportedly in captivity, the family is racing against time to raise the remaining amount amid growing fears for his life.
