MoMoFest 2026 brings music, games and digital finance to Berekum

Berekum came alive over the weekend as MoMoFest 2026 brought together music, games, shopping, sports and digital finance education at the Mixed Park from September 4 to 6.

The festival, organised by Mobile Money Fintech Limited (MMFL) under the theme “Do More with MoMo,” blended entertainment with financial education and community-focused activities designed to showcase the convenience and opportunities within the MoMo ecosystem.

Kweku Smoke Headlines MoMoFest Concert

The major entertainment highlight came during the MoMoFest x Revival Concert, where Ghanaian music star Kweku Smoke and other performers thrilled hundreds of music lovers.

The Mixed Park was transformed into a vibrant entertainment arena as residents sang, danced and enjoyed a series of performances that brought the three-day festival to a colourful close.

The concert capped a weekend packed with football, games, shopping and other activities for residents and visitors.

GH¢10,000 Cash Prize Boosts Excitement

The entertainment extended beyond the music stage, with the MoMo Keleke Gameshow providing participants with the opportunity to compete in questions and challenges for prizes of up to GH¢10,000.

Contestants battled for the top prizes as enthusiastic spectators cheered them on throughout the competition.

Customers also participated in the GH¢100 MoMo Shop & Mega Rewards, which allowed selected products to be purchased for GH¢100 while giving MoMo users opportunities to win hourly Mega Rewards.

Football, Community Activities Add to the Fun

Football enthusiasts were also catered for, with a football gala and Guinness Smooth EPL Viewing Party providing opportunities for fans to enjoy the sport while socialising with friends and other residents.

A community clean-up exercise was also organised as part of the festival, highlighting MMFL’s emphasis on community participation and engagement.

MoMoFest Promotes Digital Finance
Although entertainment was central to the festival, MMFL also used the platform to educate participants about the practical benefits of MoMo and opportunities available within the digital financial ecosystem.

Speaking to newsmen, Mr David Nana Addai, Mobile Money (MoMo) Manager, Northern Ghana, Mobile Money Fintech Limited, said MoMoFest, which began last year, was designed to serve a purpose beyond entertainment.

According to Mr Addai, the initiative provides an opportunity to sensitise participants about the relevance of MoMo while educating traders, business owners and other users on trading, business and investment opportunities available through the MoMo ecosystem.

He said conducting business through MoMo offered considerable flexibility and convenience and encouraged customers and businesses to embrace digital payments.

Mr Addai also said the initiative supported the government’s drive towards a cashless economy, noting that digital transactions could make business operations more convenient while reducing reliance on physical cash.

Cashless Fair Showcases Digital Payments

The MoMo Cashless Fair provided customers and traders with an opportunity to experience the convenience of conducting transactions digitally.

The Cashless Market featured a variety of products, including food, drinks, fashion and beauty products, mobile phones and accessories, as well as household essentials, all available for purchase using MoMo.

A Fraud Awareness Drama was also staged to educate customers on how to identify fraudulent activities and protect their funds when using digital financial services.

Family-Friendly Activities
Families and children were not left out of the celebrations, with interactive games, a children’s corner and other family-oriented activities forming part of the programme.

Entry to the festival was free, with customers required to download the MoMo App and present it at the entrance.

MoMo Support Points were also established at Berekum Station Roundabout, Kato, Nsautre Lorry Park, UENR Main Hostel, Wesley Cathedral and Abesim to assist customers.

With live music from Kweku Smoke, GH¢10,000 in gameshow prizes, football, shopping, interactive games and community activities, MoMoFest 2026 offered residents of Berekum an action-packed weekend.

The festival provided a platform where entertainment, digital finance and community engagement came together under one celebration, encouraging residents to “Do More with MoMo.”
