THE MANYORO TRUTH
When a child learns to walk, he falls multiple times. However, we do not count his falls; we celebrate him when he walks successfully. It is much the same with life.
The successful did not get there on a silver platter. They were not born with a spoon in their mouth.
Some fell multiple times. They just rose one more time than they fell.
My writing career was marked by falls and rises. Most of my articles ended up in the trashcan. But that did not stop me from writing. You are reading this because of persistent resilience. That is rising every time you fall.
WHY WE FALL {AND WHY IT’S NORMAL}
. Life Tests What It Teaches: Before an army declares victory, it counts its losses. It may retreat and map out a new strategy. Every successful military operation comes after a period of reflection. Loss is the examination before success.
. To Teach Us Humility: Falling multiple times shows our vulnerability as humans. It happens to humble us. So we can learn to depend on God and on each other.
. Because We Dared: The people who fall are the people who try. Those who sit in their comfort zones never fall, but they never rise either. When history is written, it will not be for those who sat down and criticized others; it will be for those who made a definite attempt to do something meaningful whether they succeeded or not.
3 REASONS PEOPLE REFUSE TO RISE
- Shame: We don’t want to look awkward in the eyes of others. What will people in Manyoro say about me? What will those in Accra say? We stay down to avoid criticism from our detractors.
- The Weight of Yesterday; Past failures should not define who we are. Past mistakes should guide us to improve upon our performance. We must reframe our negativity into positivity. Yesterday is a lesson, not a life sentence.
- Loneliness: We do not clap when you fall, only when you rise. Many stay down because they think no one will help them rise. United we stand, divided we fall. Togetherness promotes social cohesion and collective action leading to success.
HOW TO RISE AGAIN – THE 3 R’S FORMULA
- Reflect, Don’t Regret: It is a waste of time to brood over past hurts, failures, and blunders. Reflect. Ask: What went wrong? What can I do next to improve? What lessons have I learned? A wise man from Manyoro doesn’t cry over spilled water; he learns to hold the cup better the next time. Turn your fall into wisdom.
- Reignite Your WHY: I write for cogent reasons. Not for likes. Not for money But for what will outlive money. My words will remain long after I am gone. People will Google my name and know I was once here. My WHY is stronger than my wounds. When your why is big, rising becomes non-negotiable.
- Restart Immediately: Motivation should be internally driven. No delays. Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Rise NOW! Even if you rise with tears, rise. Even if you rise slowly, rise. Movement creates momentum.
CONCLUSION: THE LEGACY OF RISERS
Ghana is not built by the faultless. It is built by risers. It is built by people who fell, rose, fell again, and rose again. Nkrumah fell. Kufuor fell. Azuma Nelson fell. Every hero fell. Ghana continues to rise.
It is instructive to note that your legacy will not be measured by how many times you fell, but by how many times others rose because they saw you rise.
Final Charge: If you have fallen seven times, rise eight. Heaven is not counting your falls. The angels are counting your risings. And for every rising, heaven rejoices.
Final Question:
Will you stay down, or will you make falling just an event, and rising your lifestyle?
