Man Accuses Sheikh Ahmad Gumi of Taking His Moroccan Wife, Says Cleric Has Ignored Summons From Authorities

A man identified as Nasir Musa Idris has publicly accused prominent Nigerian Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi of taking his Moroccan wife from him through deception, and further alleged that Gumi has since declined an invitation from Nigerian authorities to answer questions on the matter.

The allegation was broadcast by RFI Hausa, the Hausa-language service of Radio France Internationale, in a video interview posted to the outlet's official Facebook page.

The Allegation

According to the RFI Hausa report, Idris says Gumi deceived him and subsequently took his wife, a Moroccan national, away from him.He further claims that Gumi has been invited by relevant authorities to respond to questions related to the matter but has refused to honour that invitation.

RFI Hausa's report is presented as Idris's own account, delivered directly to camera; ModernGhana has not independently verified the underlying claims.

Public Reaction

A Note on Verification

As with any serious personal allegation against a public figure, this report should be read as an account of what Nasir Musa Idris has stated publicly, not as an established finding of fact.
