Dr. Robert Kofi Doh commissions borehole; launches Tradesmen Empowerment initiative at Ho Heve

Dr Robert Kofi Doh, Former Ho Central NDC Parliamentary Aspirant and Youth Commissioner of NDC Proforum, has commissioned a mechanised borehole and launched the Dr Doh Tradesmen Empowerment Initiative at Heve in the Ho Central Constituency.

The interventions, which attracted traditional leaders, artisans, NDC branch executives and residents from Heve and surrounding communities, were aimed at addressing immediate community needs while creating opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Doh said the projects reflected his commitment to promoting hope, dignity, service and opportunity, stressing that development should go beyond physical infrastructure to include initiatives that improve people's quality of life and economic prospects.

He recounted his longstanding connection with Ho and Heve, explaining that although he hails from Akrofu Xeviwofe, much of his formative years were spent in Ho. He attended E.P. Basic Schools at Dome and Mawuli School, where he developed close relationships with people from Heve, Dome and surrounding communities.

Dr Doh disclosed that he is a member of the Amevor Branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Heve and acknowledged the influence of Mr Amevor, whom he described as a senior brother and father figure who provided valuable guidance throughout his personal and political journey.

“When one succeeds, there is a responsibility to remember and contribute to the communities that helped shape that journey,” he said.

Reflecting on his participation in the 2023 NDC Parliamentary Primary, Dr Doh said the experience strengthened his belief that politics should ultimately be about serving people rather than pursuing positions.

He explained that the mechanised borehole was provided in response to a genuine need identified in Heve and neighbouring communities, noting that access to safe water remains a basic necessity.

According to him, he appealed to One Africa Market in Accra for support, resulting in financial assistance that complemented his personal contribution towards the project.

Dr Doh said the borehole demonstrated what could be achieved when community needs, individual commitment and corporate support came together. He noted that the project would help reduce the burden of accessing water on families, particularly women and children, while improving the general wellbeing of residents.

He further explained that his approach to social intervention goes beyond providing infrastructure, stressing the importance of initiatives that equip people with the capacity and resources to improve their livelihoods.

The ceremony also featured the launch of the Dr Doh Tradesmen Empowerment Initiative, under which selected artisans received working tools to support their businesses.

Dr Doh recalled that he supported at least 10 artisans with working tools in December 2025 and said the latest initiative represented a formalisation and expansion of that commitment to empowering young people and women.

He described mechanics, carpenters, masons, welders, electricians, plumbers, tailors, hairdressers and barbers as important contributors to the local economy, stressing that the absence of appropriate tools could limit their productivity and ability to grow their businesses.

He urged beneficiaries to use the tools productively, expand their businesses, attract more customers, train apprentices and eventually become employers and mentors within their communities.

Dr Doh also called for greater investment in the youth, arguing that young people need more than political rhetoric to succeed.

He said access to information, mentorship, skills, networks and meaningful opportunities were essential to helping young people realise their potential.

He pledged to help bridge the gap between talent and opportunity by opening doors through his networks and connecting young people in Ho Central to opportunities beyond the constituency.

He particularly commended young NDC members in Ho Central for their commitment and sacrifices, saying their dedication to the party's progress deserved to be matched with meaningful opportunities.

Dr Doh expressed appreciation to One Africa Market, traditional and community leaders, members of the Amevor Branch of the NDC, Mr Amevor, the artisans and residents whose contributions helped make the projects possible.
