Alagumgube tours iconic landmarks ahead of second anniversary celebration

The Alagumgube Association on Friday, August 21, 2026, embarked on a tour of some of the most iconic landmarks in New York and New Jersey as part of activities marking its second anniversary.

The tour, which was led by Rev. Nat Awuni, Vice Chairman of Alagumgube Global, formed part of the Association's two-day anniversary celebration scheduled for August 21 and 22, 2026.

Members and supporters of the Association visited Times Square, Rockefeller Center, the World Trade Center and Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, as part of the tour.

The outing provided members with an opportunity to explore some of the region's notable historical, architectural and cultural landmarks while strengthening bonds among members of the Association.

The first stop was Times Square, one of New York City's most recognisable destinations. Often described as the “Crossroads of the World,” Times Square is renowned for its giant illuminated displays, Broadway theatres, restaurants, shops and vibrant street life.

The group subsequently visited Rockefeller Center, another iconic New York landmark known for its distinctive architecture, public art and cultural attractions. The complex remains an important part of New York's architectural and cultural landscape.

The tour also took members to the World Trade Center, a site of immense historical significance in New York and the United States. The visit provided an opportunity for members to experience one of the city's most prominent landmarks and reflect on its place in contemporary history.

The final stop was Grounds For Sculpture in Hamilton, New Jersey, a 42-acre nonprofit sculpture park, arboretum and museum featuring more than 300 contemporary sculptures by established and emerging artists. The venue combines sculpture, gardens and nature to create an immersive artistic and educational experience.

The tour formed part of Alagumgube's broader anniversary activities aimed at celebrating its journey, strengthening unity among members and promoting the cultural identity and development aspirations of communities from Ghana's Upper East Region.
