The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejura Sekyedumase, Mr Rafiu Adam Seidu, has cut the sod for the construction of storm drains at Kotokoliline in the Ejura Township as part of efforts to address perennial flooding and improve sanitation in the municipality.
The sod-cutting ceremony brought together Assembly Members, heads of departments and agencies, the Chief Imam, Sheikh Ishak Anasaree, traditional leaders, party faithful, and other key stakeholders.
Mr Seidu said the construction of the storm drains marked another significant step towards building a more resilient, safer, and prosperous Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality.
He explained that the project was not merely about concrete and engineering but also a broader effort to address perennial flooding, protect lives and property, improve sanitation, safeguard businesses, and create a more resilient urban environment for residents.
Following the sod-cutting ceremony, the MCE and other stakeholders proceeded to the site of the Ejura 24-Hour Economy Market to inspect ongoing construction works.
Mr Seidu described the market project as an important intervention that, when completed, would strengthen economic activities, create opportunities for traders and entrepreneurs, generate employment, and contribute significantly to the economic transformation of the municipality.
He said the projects demonstrated what could be achieved when leadership and stakeholders worked together with a common purpose to promote development.
The MCE reaffirmed the Assembly's commitment to engaging relevant authorities, stakeholders, and development partners to attract more meaningful projects and investments to the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality.
He added that the Assembly remained focused on ensuring that development was visible, opportunities were expanded, and every community had a stake in the municipality's collective progress.
