The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has partnered with the African Agribusiness Consortium (AAC) to establish a 750-acre vegetable production hub aimed at supporting 118 Ghanaian graduates of Russia's People's Friendship University (RUDN University) to transition into commercial agriculture.

Under the partnership, MoFA will provide irrigated land for the project, while the African Agribusiness Consortium will supply the necessary logistics and cover the cost of irrigation water.

Announcing the initiative during a reception for the graduates, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, said the project forms part of efforts to harness the graduates' expertise to drive agricultural transformation under the government's Feed Ghana Programme.

He noted that the graduates, whose postgraduate studies were sponsored by the Jospong Group of Companies through the African Agribusiness Consortium, are expected to play a key role in boosting productivity and modernising Ghana's agricultural sector.

The group comprises 88 agronomy specialists and 30 ecology specialists, whose expertise will be deployed to support commercial farming, agricultural research, extension services and sustainable agricultural development.

The Ministry believes their skills will contribute significantly to improving food security, creating employment opportunities and advancing the country's agricultural modernisation agenda.
