The immediate past president of Loma Linda University in California, Dr. Richard H. Hart, has praised the efforts of Breast Care International (BCI) in the fight against breast cancer following a working visit to the organisation's offices in the Ashanti Region.

Dr. Hart, accompanied by his wife, Judy Hart, toured the facilities on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, to gain first-hand knowledge of BCI's work in breast cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, patient support and advocacy in Ghana.

The couple was welcomed at the Peace and Love Hospital premises in Oduom, within the Oforikrom municipality, by the founder of Breast Care International and chief executive officer of Peace and Love Hospital, Dr. Beatrice Wiafe Addai.

During the visit, they interacted with management, staff and breast cancer survivors, whose testimonies highlighted the impact of the organisation's interventions in saving lives and restoring hope.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Hart lauded the commitment of the BCI team to improving women's healthcare through sustained breast cancer awareness campaigns and treatment services.

"I am deeply impressed by the selfless dedication of the Breast Care International team. What you are doing is transforming lives and giving hope to thousands of women," he said.

He urged individuals, institutions and development partners to support Dr. Wiafe Addai and her team in expanding breast cancer education across Ghana and the African continent.

"Breast cancer remains one of the leading killers of women, and the work being done here deserves the support of everyone. We must stand behind Dr. Wiafe Addai and Breast Care International to ensure more women receive early diagnosis and treatment," Dr. Hart stated.

The former university president also challenged the management and staff of both Breast Care International and Peace and Love Hospital to remain steadfast in their mission despite the challenges involved.

"Continue supporting Dr. Wiafe Addai in this difficult but rewarding task. Together, you can help reduce the rising number of breast cancer cases in Ghana and across Africa," he encouraged.

Responding to the commendation, Dr. Wiafe Addai described the visit by Dr. Hart and his wife as both an honour and a source of renewed inspiration.

"This visit has challenged me to work even harder toward our vision of reducing breast cancer cases in Ghana. Their encouragement strengthens our resolve to continue serving women with dedication and compassion," she said.

She further expressed appreciation to the Hart family for recognising the achievements of Breast Care International and Peace and Love Hospital in advancing breast cancer care in Ghana.

"We are grateful to Dr. Richard Hart and Judy Hart for acknowledging our efforts. Their support motivates us to continue improving women's healthcare through education, early detection, treatment and advocacy," Dr. Wiafe Addai added.
