The Government has renewed its commitment to building a stronger local pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on boosting production capacity, improving quality standards, and positioning Ghanaian manufacturers to compete within the region and beyond.

Speaking at the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Ghana (PMAG) Day 2026, the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, said the Government is creating an environment to support pharmaceutical companies through innovation, strategic procurement and investment in quality assurance systems.

He encouraged local manufacturers to take advantage of financing opportunities available through the Ghana EXIM Bank to expand their operations, modernise production processes and meet global manufacturing standards.

According to the Minister, strengthening domestic pharmaceutical production is key to ensuring a more resilient healthcare system while creating opportunities for Ghanaian companies to supply medicines locally and access markets across the subregion and beyond.

The Government, he said, remains committed to working with industry stakeholders to promote growth, competitiveness and sustainability within Ghana's pharmaceutical sector.
