'Big Push projects not for sale' — Roads Minister warns public against fraudsters

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Governs Kwame Agbodza, has cautioned the public against individuals claiming to offer contracts under the government's Big Push Infrastructure Programme for sale.

The minister stated that the projects are not for sale and urged Ghanaians to report anyone making such offers to the police for immediate action.

"BIG PUSH projects NOT FOR SALE. Report ANYONE offering a 'Big Push project' for sale to the nearest police station," the minister wrote in a social media post on Wednesday, July 29.

Although the minister did not provide details of any specific incidents, the warning comes amid the ongoing implementation of the government's flagship infrastructure programme, under which dozens of major road and bridge projects are being executed across the country.

The Big Push Infrastructure Programme was launched by the Mahama administration in 2025 to accelerate investments in strategic transport infrastructure, improve road connectivity, reduce travel time, create jobs and lower the cost of doing business.

The programme also prioritises the completion of abandoned road projects inherited from previous administrations.

According to the Ministry of Roads and Highways, contracts have been awarded for dozens of projects, with work progressing across all 16 regions.

The programme includes both newly awarded projects and ongoing projects taken over by the government to ensure their completion.

Presenting the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament last week, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson announced that government had commenced 87 transport infrastructure projects under the Big Push Programme, comprising trunk roads, urban roads and feeder roads at various stages of completion.
