A man in Ho, the Volta Regional capital, was allegedly assaulted by loan recovery agents after reportedly defaulting on two weekly repayments on a GH¢6,000 loan.

According to reports, the borrower had been making weekly repayments of GH¢628 but failed to make payments for two consecutive weeks. He is said to have pleaded with the loan agents for additional time to settle the outstanding arrears.

However, what began as a request for an extension reportedly escalated into a heated confrontation, which allegedly turned violent. The loan agents are accused of physically assaulting the man during the encounter.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident if a formal complaint is lodged, while the public continues to call for accountability and adherence to the law in debt recovery processes.
