President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of Gabon on Monday morning arrived in Accra for a three-day state visit at the invitation of President John Dramani Mahama.
President Nguema, who was met on arrival at the Accra International Airport by his host, President Mahama, was given a 21-gun salute on his arrival.
He also inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Ghana Navy.
Gabon’s leader is being accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising Government Ministers, senior government officials and members of the Gabonese business community.
According to the itinerary, President Nguema will first visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park where he will sign a book of condolence in honour of Ghana’s founding President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and lay a wreath on his tomb.
The Gabonese leader and his Ghanaian counterpart will hold a téte-a-téte meeting, which will be followed by official bilateral talks at the Jubilee House in Accra.
The two Heads of State will use the opportunity of the bilateral talks to review the current state of bilateral relations and identify new areas of cooperation beyond the existing areas of cooperation, notably political and diplomatic consultations.
