Operators of MoMo from MTN, MobileMoney Fintech Limited has launched a three-month incentive package to encourage commercial tricycle riders to embrace digital payments across Ghana.

The package, announced on July 16, 2026, includes weekly cash rewards, monthly prizes, and free data bundles. It forms part of the company’s new “Ride with MoMo” campaign aimed at promoting a cashless transport ecosystem and advancing digital financial inclusion.

Speaking at the launch in Ho, Mr. Faisal Ali, Manager for Mobile Money Channel Development at MobileMoney Fintech Limited, said the initiative will reward riders who accept fares through MoMo merchant wallets or Quick Response (QR) codes.

“This is an opportunity for riders to use MoMo to accept payments. As you promote digital payments, we also want to reward you for supporting Ghana’s digital agenda,” he stated.

Under the campaign, registered riders who record 20 or more customer transactions in a week with a cumulative value of at least GH¢1,000 will automatically receive 1 gigabyte, 1GB, of mobile data.

In addition, riders who rank among the top 100 performers nationwide each week will receive GH¢500 cash, together with the free data bundle.

Outstanding performers will also qualify for monthly prizes of GH¢1,000 based on their total transaction volumes throughout the campaign period.

Mr. Ali urged tricycle operators who have not yet enrolled to register with only their Ghana Card at any MTN service centre or designated registration point.

He also introduced a referral programme where riders who encourage passengers to download the MoMo app and pay with QR codes will receive 300 megabytes (MB) of data for every successful referral.

Rider associations were not left out. Mr. Ali explained that any association that successfully enrolls at least 100 members into the campaign will receive special rewards from MoMo.

He noted that beyond the incentives, the initiative is designed to eliminate the challenges of cash transactions such as searching for change and the security risks of carrying cash. “With MoMo, riders no longer need to carry cash or move around looking for change. It makes business safer, faster and more convenient for both riders and passengers,” he said.

MobileMoney Fintech Limited reaffirmed its commitment to supporting businesses through digital innovation and called on transport operators to embrace cashless payments to improve efficiency and financial management.
