A massive fire has swept through a Melcom warehouse at the Tema Free Zones Enclave, prompting a major emergency response by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
According to a statement posted by the GNFS on Facebook, firefighters from the Tema and Greater Accra regions have been deployed to the scene and are working to bring the blaze under control.
About 10 fire engines have been mobilised for the operation as crews battle to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby facilities within the enclave.
Water tankers from nearby local assemblies have also been dispatched to support the firefighting efforts as thick smoke and flames continue to billow from the warehouse.
No injuries or fatalities have been reported so far as emergency responders continue to battle the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as firefighting operations continue.
