Alagumgube urged to champion training college for Bongo

The Paramount Chief of Bongo, Bonaba Salifu Alemyaarum, has appealed to development advocacy group Alagumgube to spearhead a campaign for the establishment of a teacher training college in the Bongo District to expand access to higher education and create opportunities for the youth.

The appeal was made during the monthly meeting of the Bongo Chapter of Alagumgube, which was attended by the group's Patron, Bonaba Salifu Alemyaarum, member and former Member of Parliament for Bongo, Hon. Simon Alangde, and the African Chairman of Alagumgube, Richard Abanga, along with other members and stakeholders.

Addressing the gathering, Bonaba Salifu Alemyaarum commended Alagumgube for its sustained advocacy for the construction of an airport in the Upper East Region, describing the initiative as a transformative project capable of unlocking the region's economic potential. He urged the group to remain steadfast in its campaign until the project becomes a reality.

The Paramount Chief further called on the advocacy group to extend its focus to championing the establishment of a teacher training college in Bongo, stressing that the institution would broaden access to tertiary education, create employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the district's socio-economic development.

He also disclosed that he has secured a parcel of land at Gurigo for the construction of a district hospital. According to him, efforts are underway to establish the facility in collaboration with his Korean partners, with support from the Government and the Bongo District Assembly.

The chief expressed optimism that the proposed hospital would significantly improve healthcare delivery in the district and reduce the challenges residents face in accessing quality medical services.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for members of Alagumgube to deliberate on key development priorities for Bongo and the Upper East Region, reaffirming the group's commitment to advocating for projects that promote sustainable development and improve the well-being of the people.
