NADMO Begins Nationwide Relief Distribution Today as Government Ramps Up Support for Flood Victims

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) will begin distributing relief items to victims of recent flooding in affected parts of the country from Saturday, July 4, as government intensifies efforts to support displaced families and communities.

The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the move during an update at the Jubilee House on Friday, July 3, saying the intervention forms part of government’s ongoing response to the devastating floods that have claimed lives, displaced residents, and destroyed property, particularly in the Greater Accra Region.

According to him, emergency relief items have already been supplied to some of the worst‑hit communities, with the next phase of distribution set to reach other affected areas across the country.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said government remains committed to ensuring that victims receive the necessary support as recovery efforts continue.

He also appealed to the public to remain cautious and cooperate with emergency response agencies while operations are underway.

“As we navigate the aftermath of this disaster, we urge all citizens to remain vigilant, adhere to safety warnings, and report emergencies,” he said.

The minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to assisting flood victims and restoring affected communities.

“Your government, the Mahama government, will not rest until every displaced family is housed, every district is restored, and our communities are rebuilt to be stronger and more resilient against future anomalies,” he said.

Heavy rains over the past few days have triggered widespread flooding across several parts of the Greater Accra Region, forcing residents from their homes, causing fatalities, and damaging property. Emergency response agencies continue rescue, recovery, and relief operations in the affected communities.
