Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings Leads High-Level Security Talks With UNDP on Ghana’s Peace and Stability

Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle and Chairperson of Parliament’s Select Committee on Security and Intelligence, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has led a high-level engagement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Joint Mission Team on pressing peace and security concerns confronting Ghana and the wider West African sub-region.

Sharing details of the meeting on her official Facebook page, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings disclosed that the engagement took place at Parliament House and involved officials from the UNDP Crisis Bureau and the Regional Bureau for Africa.

According to her, discussions centered on critical security matters including Security Sector Reform (SSR), implementation gaps affecting reform initiatives, Maritime Domain Awareness, and strategies to strengthen regional peace and stability.

The talks also highlighted the importance of Youth, Peace and Security, with emphasis placed on involving young people more meaningfully in peacebuilding, governance, and conflict prevention processes.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings stressed that the rapidly evolving nature of security threats across the region demands stronger collaboration between governments, development partners, and security institutions.

“As the nature of security threats continues to evolve, sustained collaboration, preventive action, and inclusive governance remain essential to safeguarding peace and stability across our region,” she stated.

The engagement comes at a time when concerns over terrorism, political instability, piracy, and transnational crimes continue to pose significant threats within parts of West Africa, increasing calls for coordinated regional responses and stronger institutional reforms.

The Klottey Korle legislator has in recent years become a strong voice on matters relating to security, governance, and youth empowerment both within Parliament and on international platforms.
