A SHORT EPISTLE TO MY NPP PEOPLE (3)

There is currently an ongoing turmoil within the UK Labour Party over the leadership crisis. The crisis has arisen following revelations about the Prime Minister Keir Starmer decision to go ahead with the appointment of Peter Mandelson as British Ambassador to the United States of America, which is the third most influential portfolio in the political hierarchy.

The process leading to the appointment of Peter Mandelson did not even generate a brouhaha and he was actually in Washington carrying on with his Ambassadorial duties, until the storm over Jeffrey Epstein files began to blow. Jeffrey Epstein was a Jewish-American billionaire with a sordid legacy of sexual impropriety and paedophilia escapes.

And because such crimes are seriously dealt with and perpetrators ostracized, anybody found to have had association with Jeffery Epstein in whichever way and at any point in time, ends up being ostracized. The ripples have even engulfed the British Mornachy with the entanglement of Prince Andrew, resulting in the stripping, completely, of his Royal privileges.

Coming back to the topic, the blindfolded fixation of Keir Starmer on Peter Mandelson, against all odds, is what has resulted in the current perilous state of his very occupation at the Number 10 Downing Street. Again, there were close associates of Keir Starmer that knew of Peter Mandelson's association with Epstein, per the security clearance checks, but kept mute.

And because of that 'Nicodemus' decision to overlook the baggage of Mandelson and ignoring the clear warning signs, there is complete turmoil in the Labour Party with Keir Starmer's job on the line, while governance is in complete abayance. Within the last 10years, Britain would have had seven Prime Ministers, when Keir Starmer's imminent resignation finally came.

In a mass movement organization as a political party, it is very important to operate along the lines of comprehensive collective inclusivity. At no point, and in any decision making, must be an infinitesimal clique holding sway; hijack the process; and damn the thoughts; opinions; and knowledge of the collective. When it comes to decision making, the approach must be collective.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in our quest to reform and rebuild for the purpose of capturing power in 2028, must make conscious efforts not to repeat mistakes of the past, but embrace renewal of mind, and change in approach. Occultic ways of running affairs, where major decisions are taken without recourse to sentiments of the grassroots, must be totally jettisoned.

There is always the tendency of a few within the party, taking decisions and clothing them.with National Council legitimacy. The National Executive Committee, similarly, engaged in such behavior. And this is epitomized by the party's recent formation of Policy Committees, announcing same, before coming out to explain how, why and what they're for.

What we must all understand and appreciate, is that, decisions taken by a clique at the top without the input of the grassroots who are in direct contact with voters in the villages, cottages, and hamlets, are hellaciously counterproductive. And more importantly, nobody must be written off in decision making processes, due to academic, economic or social profile.

Decisions emanating from the National Executive Committee must be consultative and broad based. National Council decisions must reflect the mood, sentiments and acceptance of the generality of the party followers, sympathisers, and members. Decisions taken by a clique for parochial interests at the expense of the party's electoral fortunes must end forthwith.
