The Cyber Security Authority has called on parents, guardians, and teachers to build stronger offline relationships with children as part of efforts to promote safer online behaviour.

Speaking during a cyber safety session organised under the CAMFED Mobile Learning Lab training programme in Bolgatanga, an official of the CSA, Mary Bawa, stressed the importance of fostering open, trusting communication between adults and children to help young people confidently seek support when confronted with online dangers.

According to Ms Bawa, children who feel supported and understood offline are more likely to report harmful online experiences such as cyberbullying, grooming, exposure to inappropriate content, and suspicious online interactions.

She further encouraged parents and teachers to improve their digital literacy to better understand the online platforms and technologies children engage with daily.

Ms Bawa also advised caregivers to make use of digital safety tools, including parental controls, content filters, and screen time settings, to help monitor and guide children’s internet usage responsibly.

The cyber safety session forms part of broader efforts by the Cyber Security Authority to raise awareness about responsible digital practices and strengthen online protection for children and young people across the country.
