The Twifo Praso District Magistrate Court in the Central Region has fined two invigilators and two teachers GH¢3,000 each for their involvement in examination malpractice during the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The court, presided over by His Worship Cephas Atidzoe, ruled that the convicts would serve a one-year prison term in default of payment.
The four convicted persons are David Kwabena Mensah, Ruth Ampah, Millicent Marfo and Kennedy Anokye.
According to the prosecution, David Kwabena Mensah was found guilty of leaking examination questions in violation of Section 4(b) of the West African Examinations Council Act, 2006.
The 38-year-old reportedly used a mobile phone to photograph examination questions and circulated them on WhatsApp.
Ruth Ampah was also convicted for assisting candidates during the examination by dictating answers to them, contrary to Section 20(1) of the Criminal Offences Act and Sections 6 and 9 of the West African Examinations Council Act, 2006.
Millicent Marfo and Kennedy Anokye were found guilty of conspiring to unlawfully possess examination materials in breach of Section 23 of the Criminal Offences Act and Section 3 of the West African Examinations Council Act.
The prosecution said the two committed the offence at the Twifo Praso Senior High School Examination Centre.
The court convicted all four accused persons based on their own guilty pleas.
