We the Convention Peoples Party today salute the workers of Ghana on this special occasion dedicated to the workers of Ghana.
We the CPP want to remind the workers of Ghana that we started the fight for Independence with you the workers of Ghana.
Indeed the Political Independence of Ghana could not have been possible without the contributions from the railway workers, the Ex-service men, the market women, the Teachers and other workers union.
It was the workers of Ghana who thronged the streets of Ghana and amplified the CPP’s demand for *Self Government Now* slogan through demonstrations and other public gatherings.
But our Independence was not completed since our goal towards Economic Independence was truncated by the Coup of 1966.
Today is another 1st May and the development of our dear country is stagnant, poorly planned and managed.
69 years after we the CPP and the workers of Ghana attained political Independence for Ghana in 1957 and embarked on the road to achieve Economic independence from 1960 and beyond, most of the factories built with state funds remains shut.
State owned Enterprises have been sold and there are still attempts to sell the remaining ones.
State Houses and other state properties including our Natural Resources continues to be shared among government cronies, family and friends.
We the CPP are therefore on this day rekindling our Union with you the workers of Ghana to complete our journey of achieving Economic Independence for Ghana.
We the CPP are therefore encouraging you the workers of Ghana to grow your membership, be politically active though Non-Partisan and remain Patriotic.
We are on this day also offering you a seat at our CPP Central Committee as we did during our struggle for Political Independence in the 1940s and the 1950s.
We say Ayekoo to you the workers of Ghana on whose sacrifices, sweat and commitment drives the various sectors of our Economy.
*Forward Ever!*
Signed
Osei Kofi Acquah
National Communications Director of the CPP
