An unidentified newborn baby was found abandoned in a small bush at Dechimso-Hafia in the Ashanti Region.
Residents discovered the infant on Sunday, April 26, 2026 and quickly alerted authorities.
The baby was rescued and rushed to the Manhyia health facility for urgent medical attention.
Police in the area have since begun investigations to identify and apprehend the person responsible for abandoning the baby.
Officers say efforts are underway to trace the mother or anyone connected to the incident.
Authorities are appealing to the public, especially residents of Dechimso-Hafia and surrounding communities, to provide any information that could assist with the investigation.
Anyone with leads is urged to report to the nearest police station.
The condition of the baby is yet to be confirmed by health officials at the Manhyia facility.
