President John Dramani Mahama has stated that Ghana’s economy is now ranked the 8th largest in Africa, citing recent gains in growth and stability.

He made the statement during a courtesy call by the Ghana CEO Network at the Presidency on Thursday, April 23.

The President said Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has risen to an estimated $114 billion, pushing the country up the continental rankings.

He attributed the growth to fiscal discipline, reduced government waste, and renewed investor confidence.

President Mahama assured business leaders that his administration remains committed to creating a business-friendly environment, with the private sector leading economic transformation.

He highlighted key policies, including the 24-Hour Economy and the Accelerated Export Agenda, urging industry players to focus on value addition and reduce reliance on raw material exports.

The President added that savings from fiscal reforms are being invested in major programmes such as the Big Push infrastructure initiative, the Adwumawura entrepreneurship programme, and the Free Primary Healthcare Programme.

A statement shared via social media by the Presidency noted that the Ghana CEO Network, led by Ernest De-Graft Egyir, commended the government’s economic management and invited the President to attend the Ghana CEO Summit scheduled for May 28.
