Ghana Month: H.E. Mavis Ama Frimpong Brings Ghana To France

Ghana Month took on renewed vibrancy this year as the Embassy of Ghana in France dedicated the entire month of March to celebrating Ghana’s heritage, culture, and global partnerships.

Under the leadership of H.E. Mavis Ama Frimpong, the embassy rolled out a series of high‑profile activities that brought the Ghanaian community in France together and highlighted the country’s growing international presence. The celebrations coincided with Ghana’s Independence Month, adding symbolic weight to the events.

The programme opened with the Ghana–France Business Seminar Paris 2026, held at the Hyatt Regency Paris Étoile. The seminar convened international policy leaders, investors, and business executives to explore opportunities in trade, investment, and bilateral cooperation. Participants emphasized Ghana’s strategic position as a gateway to Africa and a competitive destination for global business.

Companies from across the world were represented, including Agri‑Terra Ghana Company Ltd, known for its liquid organic fertilizers; SAFRIP Ghana, producers of poultry feed; Mediprema Group; Beldica; IMP; German Legros; and several others.

Beyond business, H.E. Frimpong used the platform to showcase Ghana’s cultural richness. A durbar‑style cultural display highlighted traditional attire, music, and cuisine, reinforcing Ghana’s identity on the European stage.

The cultural spotlight echoed a recent moment that captured international attention—President John Mahama’s visit to Zambia, where his traditional fugu attire sparked global conversation. The fugu, a hand‑woven cotton garment from northern Ghana, was humorously mistaken for a “skirt” upon his arrival in Lusaka, generating widespread media buzz.

The embassy’s celebrations continued at the Mairie du 16ᵉ arrondissement, where Ghanaian food, arts, and traditions were exhibited to an enthusiastic audience.

To close the month, the embassy hosted a Thanksgiving and prayer service on Sunday, March 29, bringing together all religious bodies within the Ghanaian community to express gratitude and mark the end of Ghana Month.
