The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has clarified that vaccination is not a mandatory requirement for Ghanaians travelling to Senegal.
The Ministry, however, urged travellers to take necessary health precautions before embarking on their trips.
The notice, contained in a statement dated March 26, follows guidance from Senegalese authorities on recommended vaccinations for visitors entering the country.
“The Senegalese Authorities have indicated that vaccination against certain communicable diseases, notably yellow fever, DPT, measles, and hepatitis A and B, is recommended for the protection of travellers' health and safety,” the statement read in part.
The Ministry explained that despite the recommendation, travellers will not be required to present vaccination certificates upon entry into Senegal.
It further advised Ghanaian nationals to consult healthcare providers to ensure they are adequately protected against preventable diseases.
“However, presentation of vaccination certificates for these diseases is not mandatory for entry into the Senegalese territory,” the statement added.
