Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam Hands Over 300-Bed Hostel Facility to Ambariyya Islamic Institute

Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, former Minister for Finance and Member of Parliament for Karaga, has handed over a newly constructed 300-bed hostel facility to the Ambariyya Islamic School in Tamale, strengthening support for Islamic education in Northern Ghana.

The project responds to a request from the leadership of the Ambariyya Islamic Institute to ease accommodation challenges faced by students who travel from communities outside Tamale, as well as foreign students—particularly those from across the West African sub‑region—who study at the Institute.

Speaking on behalf of the MP at a brief handover ceremony, Abdul Halim Tikuma, Dr. Adam’s personal aide, said the facility was fully funded by the MP as part of his long-standing commitment to expanding access to both secular and Arabic education. He urged the Ambariyya community to continue praying for the MP, noting that the intervention marks only the beginning of further support to the Institute.

Representing the leadership of Ambariyya, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Awal Issah expressed profound gratitude to Dr. Adam for the timely intervention. He said the new hostel would significantly enhance teaching and learning by providing safe, comfortable accommodation for students who travel long distances to pursue Islamic education.

He described the gesture as a major boost to the advancement of Islamic education in the region. The facility includes washrooms, a sick bay, a conference room, and a waiting area for visiting parents—amenities designed to improve student welfare and create a conducive learning environment.

The Ambariyya Islamic School remains one of Northern Ghana’s most respected centres of Islamic learning, attracting students from across the country and the wider West African sub‑region.
